3. The8639‐TPASMAconnectorshaveflatsthatacceptanopen‐end1/4‐inchor
6.5mmwrench.Whenattachinginstrumentcablestothe8639‐TPA,itisrecom‐
mendedthatthe8639‐TPASMAconnectorsbemechanicallyheldandthetest
leadsbetightenedtotheequipmentmanufacturer’storquerecommendations,
normally5in‐lbs,usinga5/16‐inchopen‐endwrench.
Ifthetestset‐uprequiresrepositioning,firstloosenordisconnecttheSMAconnectionsto
avoidtwisting,bending,ortension.
NOTE:Adropinsignalamplitudebyhalfor6dbduringthetestingof
achannelmayindicatethatacablehasbeenmechanicallypulled
freeofcoaxialcableconnectionsinternaltotheassembly.Thiscould
bedeterminedbycheckingifthecablehasanylateralplayrelative
totheTPA.ThiswouldonlyoccurwhentheTPAhasexceededthe
pullforceasspecified
withinthemechanicalspecification.Ifthe
cablecannotbere‐seated,thetestadapterwillneedtobesentback
tothefactoryforservice.
CAUTION6:IndependentlySupportInstrumentCablesorAccessories
Excessiveweightfrominstrumentcablesand/oraccessoriesconnectedtothe8639‐TPAcan
causedamageoraffectthetestadapterperformance.Besuretoprovideappropriatemeans
tosupportandstabilizealltestset‐upcomponents.

TPA)issuppliedwithDeviceSupport
Adaptermaterialsthatallowtheusertoproperlysupportand
stabilizea2.5‐inchor3.5‐inchform‐factordevicewhileundertest.
